Actor, improviser

Founding member of ‚Theater im Bahnhof’ (Graz, A), Austria’s biggest off-theatre company, he has been acting on stage since 1989 and improvising since 1996. Beside their weekly improv-show running since May 1996, Theater im Bahnhof produces about four theatre performances a year, mostly self devised and based on research material, dealing with the issues of Austrian identity between tradition and pop culture.
Lorenz has been performing and teaching all over Europe and works also as senior lecturer at the drama department of the Unversity of Music and Performing Arts in Graz.
Most recently he is one of the main actors of the full improvised movie ‚Should I Stay or Should O Go?’, co-produced by the EC and shot in five cities (Graz, Berlin, Ljubljana, Lyon and Skellefteå) – to be shown at the Ciné Rillieux, at the Médiathèque in Rillieux-la-Pape on Thursday, Oct 8th, at 19h30.

Lorenz Kabas, qui est autrichien, parle presque toutes les langues (allemand, italien, anglais, français…). Après avoir étudié les mathématiques, le latin à la Karl-Franzens-Universität et la guitare classique au conservatoire Johann Joseph Fux de Graz, il intègre, en 1989, l’ensemble du Theater im Banhoff de Graz. Il y est à la fois comédien, régisseur, dramaturge et guitariste.

Il a également écrit pour la Schauspielhaus de Graz.
Mais puisque ses casquettes sont nombreuses, il a tour à tour été acteur de cinéma, chargé de cours à propos de la conception web à l’Université des arts de Graz, improvisateur, etc.
